Siang-Yang Tan (PhD, McGill University) is professor of psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary and senior pastor of First Evangelical Church Glendale in California. He is associate editor of the Journal of Psychology and Christianity, contributing editor for the Journal of Psychology and Theology, consulting editor for Edification: Journal for the Society of Christian Psychology, and editorial consultant of the Journal of Spiritual Formation and Soul Care. He has written numerous books, including Lay Counseling, Disciplines of the Holy Spirit, and Coping with Depression.

Had to have for a counseling class, but this book is awesome. The content is very engaging and interesting, plus the Christian principles are executed beautifully.
I used this fantastic book for my lectures in "Techniques of Psychotherapy" in Psychology Strand at the University. It served as a "textbook" that provided a perfect guide on the perspectives of counseling and psychotherapy, as well as the rich material content - a one stop shop. Thanks Dr. Siang-Yang Tan!
Great text that provides an excellent overview of various counseling theories and a review from a Christian perspective as well. The book is very clinical and thorough. Tan also provides some excellent information about Christian counseling theories as well toward the end of the book.
