I have a softcover copy of a previous edition... and I love it so well, I ordered this updated hardback edition. It belongs in every sailors library.

Experience cruising sailor with good suggestions on boat upgrades. One of the better books I have read. Gives details on his own personal experiences, rather than generalized suggestions.

Unfortunately it is a good book but if you want to find something specific it is nearly impossible. Chapters are put in order in a strange way so that information for the same matter is "scattered" all over the book.

Well organized, lots of current information and common sense solutions.

Definitely worth reading if you own a sailboat.

Only 36% of the book is related to dictation, the topic that I am interested in. The rest is totally unrelated ("How to make money on internet") and is called a bonus. To me it was a negative as it inflated the size of the book and make it appears more substantial about the topic that I was interested in.The first chapter is introduction about the benefits of dictation and ends with the software that the author does not recommend, but could be useful to get a feel on whether you like using dictation software. The second chapter goes over hardware (microphones, recorders). The third chapter discusses Dragon software and how to practice using it. In chapter 4 the the author shares his methods, for example writing and editing separately. Chapter 5 is the tips from experience. Chapter 6 goes over the non-free software that the author recommends.The chapters are short and the book ends on page 38, which is 36% of the book. As I mentioned earlier the rest of the book is completely unrelated to the topic that made me buy the book. If someone include such a huge amount of bonus material (64% of all pages) it should be related to the topic that made the person buy the book, not just some random stuff.Ali Julia review

This book is so concise and informative. First, the author outlined the benefits of dictating instead of typing then he proceeded in giving the tips and tricks in dictation. What I love about it most is the fact that he gave a lot of resources which you will really find useful! I know I won't be able to write a million words in a year since I only work as a part-time freelance writer (being a teacher is a tough job), but the knowledge will come in handy someday. Great book.PS: I also love the 2 bonus books :)

First time to read about the topic. I have already heard about it as I know people recording themselves and just doing a talking spree with thoughts just flooding in and just transcribing the recording. I know it's a good way to write but still I was amazed at this book--on how one really took time to put all of these in writing. Really, there are simple and everyday things that would amaze us and the apps to do it is really something to look forward to. Made me really curious to try it.

I find this activity useful to spend less time in writing especially in today’s fast-paced age. Since not everyone is familiar on how this thing works, a guide book is best recommended. This one I got is good, the methods are reliable. Voice dictation software was also introduced in this book. This technology allows you to write hands-free and it is simply wonderful. This is an excellent reference.

I can't believe I only started using dictation this week, all the time I wasted since this technology became available, it's unbelievable.I really liked how to book broke down how to use this technology and I am actually using dictation to write this review!The book also lists many different resources that could help you get started with dictation.Dictation just saves so much time – if you write a lot of emails, texts and documents I highly recommend start using dictation.Takes some time getting used to the punctuation but once you get the hang of it it's totally worth it.Get this book if you want or if you think you want to start using dictation. For anyone who Lives in Bali, Loves Bali or is Looking to visit or move to Bali Cat Wheeler's two books are a must read. Witty, wise and wonderful Cat has a way of making situations that you may want to pull your hair out from not only amusing but understandable in the context of magical Bali. Be prepared to laugh and cry at the same time on a journey that is utterly unique. Considering the number of adults living in Bali without supervision this should be a best seller! I am so happy to have this available in Kindle so when I travel I can share this with friends around the world.

At the end of the book I was sad to see it go! The stories resonated for me, as a family member, traveler, and a person facing the changes that life brings. But more than that, her way with words made me laugh out loud, and shake my head along with the people (and animals) in the tales. A page turner all the way.

Cat Wheeler's observations about life and growing old in Bali is so much fun, but keeping it real the whole time. I've enjoyed this tremendously and makes me miss Bali so much.

I read Cat Wheeler's book "Bali Daze" before moving to Bali and liked it so much I read it again. Her new book, "Retired, Rewired" is just as excellent. I just finished it and am sure i will read it again. it doesn't matter if you have never been to Bali and never plan to visit. This book (both of them, really) is a fun read. Vivid writing, humorous depictions of daily life, more than you thought you needed to know about duck sex, and really lovely depictions of family and friends - and losing some of them. Read it and I suspect you will read it again.

This book is a must for anyone! Cat can write about anything and make it funny. I laughed out loud reading the introduction. I live in Bali part time and her book made fall in love with my life here all over again.Beyond the wonderful entertainig stories it is a reminder that we must keep our sense of humor in this crazy world. Thank you Cat!

I've been writing about Bali since 2004 and can say nobody writes about this wild, wonderful and idiosyncratic island better than Cat Wheeler. She captures all the personalities of Bali, whether they have four legs, two legs, wings or just a reptilian stare. Bali has a culture and a people like no other place in the world and they come to life in the pages of this great book.

She is such an entertaining writer. I am always amazed turning a page to see that she has described something like I've never read it described like that before.It really doesn't matter if you live in Bali or not (but it makes it a little more real if you do). It's basically about getting a little older. Well OK, it's about BEING old!Enjoy it!

i couldn't wait to get my hands on this after enjoying wheeler's "bali daze" a couple of years back. witty, insightful and well written, both books capture some of the wonder and weirdness of living as an "ex-pat" (hate that expression - migrant is less colonialist) in a country as exotic and ever-changing as indonesia. i lend my copy regularly to friends and guests and it never fails to hit the mark. whether you've visited bali before, intend to sometime soon, or just enjoy an intelligent read with humor, insight and pathos, this book comes highly recommended.
