Good GENERAL test guidance throughout, with handy formula to tie you back into the theory of what is actually happening. Although there are some of Joe Carr's books I don't like, this is one I definately do and highly recommend for anyone involved in the testing of RF devices, especially those which have to test and work with a diverse product set.For more in depth circuit analysis, see Chris Bowicks "RF Circuit Design" or for more basic info, check out Jon Hagen's "RF Electronics". If you need PCB guidance, head over to Tim Williams "The Circuit Designers Companion" and if you need more magnetic or HAM type info definately get Jerry Sevicks "Transmission Line Transformers".

Test equipment ranges from what I used a lot back during WWII (a neon bulb) and computerized stuff that costs well over '''' $100,000I have made my own of almost every kind of test equipment from bulbs and probes to multichannel scopes.When working on the first and still in service real ICBM computer boards, because there were restrictions to how you were allowed to "probe" them the manuals I created explained how the basic $5000 Tektronix RM545 scope with different plugs and probes specified by the board designer could give you any answer you wanted to know.Today available as surplus the Tektronix 7603 scope is reliable and with an array of plugs will do any thing I usually want to know.You can even plug in a pair of sampling plugs that do microwave signalsHow beautiful is it to be able to probe a resistor end to end and watch on the screen the voltage and wave form developed across it. Any decent lab grade scope will do that for you.Where you want to see a one cycle per second wave form on a hundred volt above ground level you need a vertical plug and a time base that will do that.It is not going to happen with almost any digital scope today under $10,000. The Tektronix 7603 with 7A13 plug will do it with sensitivity down to 1 millivolt per division. There are less expensive ways to do it and this book can help you with that. but precision will not be there.as the $7000 cost is what you paid to get this done back in 1969.An HP 141-T with plugs will show you spectrum characteristics from 10 cycles per second to light. I don't own the light plugs but do own plugs that do own the SUB AUDIO TO MICROWAVES plugs. Most anybody can afford the usual stuff that does LF to Microwaves but there are problems of weight and space to be considered as this thing is big and heavy. The 10 to 300,000 cycle plug I got by accident from a Canadian vendor when I bought their complete instrument. I had never seen one offered before that but today you can buy a real operating and service original manual for$103 and $350 plus shipping on Ebay. The 8556A Spectrum plug is very rare but will show you any signal from audio to 300,000 cycles of any magnitude above whatever noise floor exists with appropriate external attenuators capable of the needs when it comes to signals up to 0db or so. This is a tool few people have but this book will help you get around the problem of not having an infinite budget. If you want to study electromagnetic radiation created during earth quakes or from atmospheric electric discharges. you will need some equipment in the ULF to VLF range and this can be built by anybody if you are willing to sacrifice the really neat find details.The first test equipment was designed to take advantage of the fact that along any conductor carrying current of any magnitude there will be a voltage drop between any two points regardless of distance. Any conductor has resistance at 70 degrees F.Looking for a load that is causing trouble is where this becomes important Simple test equipment can steer you to the source of this load. Most or what this book will teach you is things you will want to measure after you have achieved the education needed to know you have a problem.This book gives you information on how to make or buy what you need and why it will be useful to whatever degree.Ford won his first big start up money by using a more reliable machine as opposed to a faster machine. Microwaves like 10 ghz will not stay where you put them.to get them from one place to another you use plumbing rather than wires. Test and measurement of radio frequency things is where you find out about the way they will not stay where you want them.Knowing how these important tools of the trade are used and getting insight of how they are used and misused is useful for the beginner and even for me who has been using the stuff for over 65 years. I still make mistakes and some of them are expensive.Anybody can blow up an RF volt meter if you don't follow the rules. The important things to know is why you are "there" with the tool and what the worst that can happen might be.Nobody I know has a perfect record of going to the problem and finding the cause as by looking at the effect without making a mistake.This book gets a little hairy with the math but it is necessary if you want to know how you measure some things.You can measure propagation of a transmitting antenna with a 40 watt fluorescent lamp and a lot of room or you can do the math.Knowing a little generally cuts the investigative time.by days. Some of us learned the hard way of what works and what will not.With antennas for instance getting the voltage and current where you want it and achieving the radiation angle to get the energy directed to where you want it to go or come from, can be done by math or you can play with it until you know you have it right.I developed a 39 inch 28.5 mc mobile antenna by testing math perfect antennas of various lengths against each other until I found the correct angle to enter the ether and get my 10 meter transmissions anywhere on the planet when a path was available using only 5 watts of upper sideband power. You cannot do this with a kilowatt if the radiation angle is grossly wrong. My tools were a Heath dual wattmeter and a year of my time. Math might have made this more easy but generally I dislike a function where I do not ever get exactly what I want and is incapable of showing progress. A / B comparison tests are where you learn that no two electric elements are born equal. Even if you were very careful when you made what you thought was exactly the same.This book is useful in explaining what you need as opposed to what you do not need and to what degree. as well as how to avoid being "FOOLED".Some very important stuff to know

As contributing editor and technical consultant to Mobile Radio Technology magazine I try to keep up with the latest books on radio and RF in general. I have never seen a Joe Carr book that was anything less than very good. This one is excellent. He knows the subject matter and writes in a practical, down-to-earth way that technicians can relate to. If you need to increase you knowledge of RF this book is for you. I highly recommend it! Won't got into detail, but I lost $45,000 on slots this year. My husband had been coming with me and we won the jackpot many, many times. It's easy to play the money back down. Once, I started going on my own, I'd get thousands of dollars in cash advances, not telling my husband. The last and final time I went, I was at one point $400 ahead, and instead of coming back home, I took a cash advance out for $5,000! l blew through $7,000 when I should've stopped when I was up. But I didn't, and finally admitted to myself that I was addicted. I am still drawn to go there, but luckily it's 2.5 hours away and that dissuades me too.

I ordered this book in a "Kindle for PC" version, which downloaded immediately.The author does a very good job of not writing from her own perspective, but only from those of the many women pathological gamblers that she interviewed. Therefore, it will ring very true to a problem gambler who reads the book. Also, since the women she interviewed were all successful in quitting gambling, their various paths to that abstinence will be of interest to a problem gambler wanting to quit.The book is very well written, and gives her many sources of information. I would recommend it to any problem gambler, but especially female ones.

A MUST READ!!!! IF YOU THINK YOU MIGHT HAVE A GAMBLING PROBLEM OR JUST FEEL SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT- READ THIS BOOK!!!! Great insight into why we gamble etc. This book changed my life. This book is a gripping, well-written, and absolutely facinating book on the subject of problem gambling, particularly how it pertains to women (though it really CAN be used for anyone who struggles with or knows someone struggling with this progressive and relentless addiction).Furthermore, there are numerous references, website links, and other practical, useable websites and suggested areas for further reading, which will help the truly addicted, recovering problem gambler as they seek even more support to battle gambling and all of the issues which accompany gambling. The thing I liked the most about this book was the obvious multi-pronged analysis and real-world "look" at the reasons, triggers, contributing factors (i.e. heredity, proximity to gambling establishments), and the other "issues" which often go hand in hand with compulsive gambling (drinking, mental health issues, etc.).This is a must-read for anyone who is truly sick and tired of being sick and tired, and who wants to find hope, resource, and information on how to take back their lives.

I started reading this book 6 weeks after joining Gamblers Anonymous. I found the book very informative, well written and very easy to relate to. She does an excellent job explaining how a person gets 'addicted" to gambling as far as how the brain works and what casinos do to manipulate you. Like the book says, "how did a nice girl like you get into such a destructive behavior as gambling". The feelings of many women with gambling problems was easy to relate to and helped me understand how I got into this mess, and how I am going to get out of it. A must read for all women with gambling problems and also for her family and spouse. I found this book more informative and helpful than Gamblers Anonymous.

I get why Sam is leary to reveal everything to Thad and I equally get why this makes Thad hesitant to completely open his heart to Sam but more than once I just wanted to bang their heads together and scream "Communicate!". Throw in Thad's new friend Jared, which some might call an obstacle to the couple being happy but I call just plain awesome. Jared is a fun character that gives Thad some much needed companionship but it also gives him reasons to guard his heart, to grow, and gives his protective side reason to show.All in all, Dinner at the Blue Moon Cafe is a brilliant read that ticked my paranormal, romance, mystery boxes and it also touched on my love of horror as well making this a perfect read for October.

As the murders come closer and closer to Thad, will he live long enough to decide on his true love, or is the murderer a lot closer to him than he knows?Blue Moon Café was the first book I've read from author Rick Reed. Being a huge werewolf fan myself I thought I'd give it a shot. Once I put the book down, I've happily discovered that Mr. Reed has now become one of my favorite gay storytellers today. Rick gives an empathetic feel to his books. His writing doesn't just inform his readers, but makes them feel as if they are a friend along for the ride. Blue Moon Café is one of those books you can't put down. If you're into gay romance or supernatural thrillers, give this book a shot. I think you'll be glad you did.

The Blue Moon Cafe is a well-crafted horror thriller set in the gay community of Seattle. Once a month, someone, or something, kills gay men who are out late and cruising for action. Their bodies are found ripped apart and partially eaten. Meanwhile, Thad, who is temporarily unemployed, has found what may be true love. Sam, the owner of the Blue Moon Cafe, an Italian Restaurant, had arrived with his siblings, mother, and son several months prior, and the fine cuisine he serves is bringing in good business. When Thad stops in and sees Sam, it's practically love at first sight. Thad loves large masculine hairy men, and Sam fits the bill. The relationship starts off on a rocky road, as Sam has his hands full with personal issues and doesn't want to bring Thad into all of his problems, but his heart wants Thad, so Sam and Thad eventually make a go of it. If it weren't for those dreams he has of Sam being linked to a half-man/half-wolf creature, and the fact that there's reports of a werewolf and Sam is never around during a full moon, things would be perfect.This isn't a romance or erotica novel, it's a full-blown thriller. It's nicely written, and Rick Reed effectively brings the plot along at a good pace. There is ample character development for the major characters, and enough detail to bring the story to life. Even little details like the special dishes Sam cooks for Thad are authentic, reminding me of what my own grandparents prepared. The action scenes are gripping, suspenseful, and keep you glued to the page. The creature is frightening, and scenes involving it bring you inside its head, allowing you to know exactly what it feels and what it's about to do. It's quite effective.A minor little quibble here and there keeps me from giving it fully five stars, but man, it comes close.

I loved this story about a werewolf stalking the gay community of Seattle. The horror scenes were violent and bloody enough to satisfy any genre buff, and the love scenes were very hot. I subtracted a star for one reason: Thad Matthews, the main hero, is one of the most annoying characters I've read in a long time. I just could not relate to him or get into him. Two men in the book, Sam and Jared, are both in love with him, although I can't figure out why. With Sam, Thad is needy and clingy. After a month of dating, he practically demands to know where he is and what he's doing every minute of every day. With Jared, Thad is something of a c*&%tease. One day, he's leading him on, and the next, he's pushing him away. Still, I was able to overlook my dislike of Thad and just enjoy the story. Rick Reed is one of my favs, and I usually always enjoy his books. If you like gay romance, or a good werewolf story, I recommend it.

It's very well-constructed. Pretty strong. I have no doubt the pages will stay intact.The design is on the cover only, there are no designs inside. There is a lot of space for writing notes, and a huge note section in the back. Like 10 pages.It's great and I really like it.

This doesn’t come with a plastic cover as the cover has been treated with something to “make it last longer”??!! I miss the plastic cover that this calendar slipped into... I need that plastic cover to hold “stuff”, notes with specs on sizes of appliances, etc. Luckily, I found an old fabric “thing” perhaps a checkbook cover (?) that I hadn’t tossed... that plastic cover is so important and convenient! In fact, I’m always scouting various stores for those vinyl covers as they were NOT MADE TO LAST TWO YEARS, let alone just one year! I remember years ago when pocket calendars were only for one year. Since I use mine on a daily basis as need to check my intinerary several times a day... I would still buy these pocket 2 year calendars, and not use the second year. After a couple years of doing this and wasting the second year, I turned to using LOTS of tape to hold this cover together! Maybe sellers could offer to sell covers separately as I’m sure I’m not the only one who needs the cover...FYI: covers are not universal in sizing...Also, the calendar is has colored paper... used to white pages...glad to still find “blank” pages at the end of the calendars. They are notated with “Notes” at the top, and they’re lined as well. The ones I’m used to, besides white, they were unlined... maybe my handwriting will improve...lol

I was happy to find the next two years planner, as they are impossible to find locally this early. The hard cover is nice and will not need an extra plastic to help preserve. The beach scene is nice as well.

This is not worth 5.99 + tax. I'm very disappointed in this calendar. I just received it today and the edges were torn and it looks tattered. The only good thing I can say about it is the beach scene is beautiful. Also, the calendar months are not portrait-style. You have to turn the calendar sideways to look at dates.
