This is a very well written book of solos, not so difficult as to discourage but challenging enough to stretch ones range and abilities.

Excellent arrangement for trumpet. Beautiful playing by Phil Smith.

I do not like this quite as much as the next volume- more great hymns, but I wouldn't be without it as it also adds to my repetoire, and I enjoy playing different arrangements of the common hymns. Thank you.

Challenging arrangements for Junior High or High School, but great for older players as well.

James Curnow does another great job of arranging very inspirational hymns. He has a gift for taking simple hymns and giving them depth and texture beyond the written word. I very much like how he adds the optional cue notes that make passages a little easier for chops that may not be quite up to the task, but still maintains the depth and texture without over simplifying the entire song. The play-along CD is a very nice bonus! It's very cool to play along with Philip Smith or just listen to him play!

I have not found a whole lot of quality literature for solo trumpet with tasteful accompaniment. The solos are well written and fun to play. Some of the accompaniments were more difficult to follow, but overall I have enjoyed playing and performing from the book.
