I started working through Lingua Latina Per Se Illustrata, Pars I Familia Latina (the textbook this workbook accompanies) before this book arrived, and I noticed a big difference in comprehension and retention of new material when I started doing the exercises in this book. It is set up like the other books in this series, all in Latin and with clues in the margins. There are so many supplemental books that go along with this textbook, it was hard to know which would be useful. While I don't have all of them, this one is hard to beat
While I love this book, the complaints of some of the negative reviewers have some truth in them. After a while, most adults will probably become frustrated with Familia Latina unless they are also using a more traditional text with a systematic presentation in English of the Latin grammar. But, nevertheless, Familia Latina is a great way to get a taste of Latin, a great tool to introduce a child who is not able to tolerate grammatical drills or master a systematic presentation of grammatical rules to the language, and a great reader to supplement other books and classwork. The second book in the series, Roma Eterna, makes a delightful reader for those who continue their study of Latin. Lingua Latina: Pars II: Roma Aeterna.
We like the curriculum, but it's a bummer that they don't have the answer key included (it's in a different book).
We use in combination with Compass Classroom's Visual Latin. Excellent courses.
Great book. Amazon also sells the companion MP3 files. Speaking and reading at the same time is very helpful.This is a book that you can use for at least a year. Relax and enjoy.
this system actually works - you learn Latin just as you would any other language and it stick's in your head. instead of memorizing endless endings you're reading prose. highly recommended for working on your own or with others.
This exercise book provides invaluable practice, which enhances mastery of the Latin language.
